Western Governors University
With the assistance of a $10 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education, the Teachers College has developed online, competency-based degree and certificate programs for educators and aspiring educators. New programs include the first national online, competency-based teacher certification programs in elementary education (K-8) at both the bachelor's, post-baccalaureate, and master's degree levels. The programs were developed using more than 10,000 state and national teacher standards and requirements, including 25 states' teacher performance standards plus those from NCATE, INTASC, NBPTS, NCTM, the National Reading Panel, and many others. Astronomy, An Introduction
Gerry Descoteaux, author of The Lawnchair Astronomer, presents this online introductory course in astrology. This program is devoted to studying the northern celestial sphere and all the constellations and the bright deep-sky-objects (galaxies, clusters, nebulae, etc.) therein. Included are over 70 texts dedicated to each individual section of the sky and each of the constellations, augmented by hyperlinks to nearly 100 web-based star maps and over 200 photos.
